Postgraduate studies

Hi everyone!

Today I’m going to talk about Postgraduate studies. Actually, I’m doing the third year of Natural Resources and I don’t know what I will do when I finish my career. Sometimes, I’d like to get a job  and save money for one or two years. After that, I will take all my money and I will go to travelling around the world.
Other idea of what to do when I finish my carrer is continue studying. I consider all the professional workers have to continue studying and to be update about them career.  I’d like to majoring in some related with conservation, but I’m not sure. So, I think  I’m going to do many courses about all I’m interested and in this way I could know what is I really want.
In this moment, I would love to assist a course about birds. There is a organization called “Unión de Ornitólogos de Chile” that holds various courses about birds. In this courses, you can learn about Chilean birds in general or you can take a specific course about birds in the north of Chile, birds in the South of Chile, urban birds or birds in differents ecosystem. This courses are for all kind of people and it don’t have a very heavy  Price if you are student. It is not a postgraduate course, but this is what I would like to do when I have some money.

Bye Bye!

My uncertain future job

Hi bloggers!

Today the topic is about my future job and the true is I haven’t thought about that.
When I decided to study Engineering in Natural Renewable Resources I was thinking in the career more that in my future job with the degree. I thought in a career with Field trip, related to the nature and the most important: I was looking for a career where I could save the world!
Well, I realized that I love the career and now I have a new problem. I’d like to work in everything!
My unique limit is I don’t like be in an office or be stuck in a box all day. I’d like to work in investigations about animals (birds are my favorite), forest, the climate change, hydrology,  among others. I’d like to work in projects about conservation, preservation and restoration of places of the world. Also, I’d like to teach environmental education to the children and the adults and work in the government in differents áreas like Ministry of Environment or “Dirección General de Aguas(DGA)”.
All the work opportunities have something in common and that is I want to do something to change the world for the better. It does not matter how, I want to try to do my bit. I'm a dreamer.

That is all for today!

See you soon =)

I always wanted fly...

Hi bloggers!

Today I have to choose a topic for writing and I was thinking about while I was having lunch. So, I looked by the window and saw a little birds until it flew away and I decided my topic is BIRDS!!!!
I really love the birds, there are so many! I like the different colors it has, its feathers and is amazing listen the birds singing. Since I came in the university, I’ve been studying the birds. When I was in my first year, I had a subject  called Zoology and in this subject I learned about the taxonomy, physiognomy of the birds, what the Chilean birds look like and how you can identify it.
After that, I started to investigate about Chilean birds and looking at pictures about it. Also, I found a Website where you can listen the Chilean birds singing. In this way, I learned How to identify the different Chilean birds and I practice looking for birds while I’m walking to my house or in Antumapu.  Some months before, I bought a book  called “Aves de Chile”, it is a famous book in the Ornithology world and I’m really happy to have it.
I start to seriously think about specializing in ornithology, but I think  it will be very funny because my name.  So, one day  I’m going to present in from of some people and I’m going to say “hello, I’m Paloma and I know about birds”.

XOXO

It is my favorite bird! Its name is Loica.
